FAQs
What is new at Pixel Point Creative?
BZOTech has taken over maintenance, support and product updates for Pixel Point Creative. After a 10 year run of creating and selling Joomla products, I found myself wanting to branch out to different areas and explore new avenues. I contemplated closing up shop and moving on but I want to share my talent and passion for Joomla! with the world. We have created many products (over 100) in the last decade and could not let all these useful tools go. BZOTech has been a partner and valuable asset to Pixel Point Creative over the last 10 years. They have collaborated on a lot of the Joomla products you see on this site so they were the perfect choice to take over the operations here at PPC.
Will these products be available for Joomla 5?
Yes! The goal is to update as many products as possible for Joomla 5. So feel confident that you will be able to use your extensions long into the future.
What is Priority Support?
General support can only go so far. Things get tricky when dealing with issues like incompatibility with other extensions, bugs, outdated versions, problematic hosting etc. Priority support allows for extra time to sort these types of issues. We understand that all of our customers are unique and sometimes minor adjustments are needed to make our product work perfectly for your specific needs. Priority support allows for up to 30 minutes of troubleshooting and fixes to your problem via our support forums. This is more than enough time for 98% of issues we see.

Pixel Point Creative was founded in 2009 and offers a range of unique and useful Joomla extensions to make your site more attractive, useful and engaging. Dan Riefstahl is the founder and owner of Pixel Point Creative, as well as the core developer. For over 20 years he has been immersed in the design and web development field, crafting national magazines, creating websites for a #1 best selling author, online stores and a slew of non-profit, construction and education related companies.
What happened to the templates library?
From 2009 till 2016, I built over 60 Joomla templates for Pixel Point Creative. Most of these were built on Warp 7 by Yootheme. This framework was replaced with Yootheme Pro and most recently Yootheme retired all Warp 7 themes. I am doing the same. I am only one person and can’t manage and maintain the number of products I created. If there is interest and demand, I may update a few templates to another framework such as Helix Ultimate. Check out the templates here and get in touch with me if you really want me to resurrect a particular theme.

What are Joomla extensions?
Components, languages, modules, plugins, libraries, packages and templates are collectively known as Extensions. An extension is a software package that extends your Joomla! installation in some way. A small selection of extensions is included with the default Joomla! installation but many more are available from the Joomla! Extensions Directory and places like this!
The term extension is generic and the following specific extension types are available:
- Component – adds custom functions to your site that can be selected from menus
- Module – Flexible boxes to show data in multiple areas of a page and possibly on multiple pages
- Plugin – modifies content in articles or provides functions to extend other extensions
- Template – define the look, feel, and navigation capabilities of your site
- Language – defines an additional language for your site
- Library – provides functions to be used by other extensions
- Package – bundles related extensions
Modules
A module is a lightweight and flexible extension used for rendering content and/or images in blocks or areas of your page. The difference between a component and a module is not always clear. Modules can appear a number of times, on a number of pages in various positions. The position of each module can be easily changed to whatever is available in your template. You can select the menu items where a module is displayed or use a third party extension like Advanced Module Manager from Regular Labs. This will open many possibilities for showing/hiding modules.
Plugins
Plugins enable you to execute code in response to certain events, either Joomla core events or custom events that are triggered from your own code. This is a powerful way of extending the basic Joomla functionality.
Components
Components are the main functional units that display in your template, like the content management system, contact forms, web Links and the like. They are usually displayed in the center of the main content area of a template (depending on the template).
Template
This is the presentation of your website. The design. It is also the place holder for your component, and many place holders for modules. Plugins are involved too, but execute when the site loads.
